FSC® Certification

SINFLEX S.A.S. decided to implement an environmental and quality improvement policy. For this reason it is going to obtain the FSC® Chain of Custody certification. The final objective is to produce and sell goods which are realized with raw materials coming from forests certified according to Forest Stewardship Council® (FSC) standards.

FSC® certification provides a mechanism for companies, organizations, and communities to certify that their goods are realized with raw materials coming from well-managed forests, that respect the environmental, social and economic “Principles & Criteria” of FSC®.

The FSC® forest management takes into consideration all applicable laws and international treaties, vegetative plants cycles, economic well-being of forest workers and of local communities, as well as respect of worker’s rights. FSC® is an independent, non-governmental, not-for-profit organization established to promote the responsible management of world’s forests. FSC® was established by universally recognized environmentalist associations as Greenpeace, WWF, native people, development cooperation organizations, forest managers, workers, wood industries and forest scientists with the purpose to stop forest destruction.
In practice, this means that when someone buys from a FSC® certified company, he’s buying a good that respects the environment and forests: the FSC® label ensures that the forest products used to realized it are from responsibly harvested and verified sources. An FSC-labelled good is not necessarily more expensive than any other one, and it also contributes to saving the planet!

Preferring an FSC-labelled good means to support all those companies who are day by day protecting and preserving the environment through responsible business.

Many forests in the world have already been certified: from Scandinavian pine plantation, to fir-tree and larch Italian alpine forest, to East-Europe oaks and beech woods, to Brazil, Indonesia and Mexico tropical forests. By Jenuary 2018 the total FSC-certified area in the world is over 198 million ha in 83 countries and there are over 33.622 industries certified according the Chain of Custody in 122 countries.
As far as Italy is concerned, in January 2018, the FSC certified forest area stands at around 63,744 ha overall. There are 2,200 FSC certified companies for Chain-of-Custody (COC) in Italy.

Many types of products are FSC-labelled, such as furniture, kitchenware, tissue and printing paper, towels, wooden floors, and many others made of non-wooden forest products (rubber, walnut, fruits of the forest, etc.).
